Getting started with Helpdesk

Helpdesk is a lightweight and fast widget that you can embed on your website pages to offer your customers a way to contact you or browse answers on their own without having to leave the page.


The Helpdesk widget comes with a lot of features that you can take make use of, some of them include.

  • Customization 
  • Start page editor
  • Contact page editor
  • Tracking
  • Notify
  • Custom CSS and JavaScript

Cusomization

You can customize the widget and make it fit to your brand design very easily, customize settings such as:

  • Widget Mode
  • Color theme
  • Company logo

You can find these settings in the Helpdesk widget page under the 'Look and Feel' page as shown in the image below:

Start page editor

In the start page editor is where you can configure and decide what will show in your widget. 


You can add widget blocks such as answers, categories, explore, notify, vertical gap etc.


All these elements are draggable and you can easily move them around to create a configuration that best suits you.


To find these settings you can go to the Start page editor and click the 'Start Page' page as shown in the image below:

Contact page editor

The contact page editor is a page where you can edit the message component in the widget.


There are a few settings to customize the message component, some of them include:

  • Support team pictures
  • Title text
  • More info text
  • Button text

You can find these settings in the Helpdesk widget page under 'Contact Page' as shown below:

Tracking

You can setup Answerly tracking in the editor, and you will have more information about how many searched per day your widget is getting, what are the most searched queries and so on.


Tracking will help you understand how to help your customers better.


To enable the Answerly Tracking, you can go to the Helpdesk widget page, open the 'Other' page and enable it on the settings on the right as shown below:

Notify

Notify is a component that is used to showcase important information about your product, 


It has a unique design and is added at the top of the page where your customers will not be able to miss it.


Notify has a few cool features that include:

  • Background color
  • Font color
  • Author picture
  • Text content

You can find the Notify settings on the Helpdesk widget page under 'Notify' as shown below:

Custom CSS and JavaScript

Last but not least, you can add your own custom css to style the widget even more, and execute your JavaScript code to add additional functionality.
